Instant Icon

In 2014, we had a wild idea to design and produce a 14-foot chandelier constructed with our flagship Louis Ghost Chairs to celebrate and commemorate our one-year anniversary. (Read more about that installation in a previous blog post!)

Fast-forward three years later and we were honored to have our piece reproduced at the ‘Instant Icon’ exhibition across the globe at the Trapholt Museum of Art in Kolding, Denmark as well as excited to attend the opening night gala.

And, unlike our original chandelier which only lasted for less than 24-hours, this installation will be on display for several months alongside other great pieces from November 2016 to August 2017.

The Instant Icon exhibition, conceptualized and curated by Rosita Satell, is described to:

"examine whether there is a pattern for how the furniture is exposed, staged and disseminated. It is as if not only the dissemination of the furniture, but also something inherent in each piece of furniture that lead to dissemination. The furniture in this exhibition have something in themselves that are particularly media-friendly, which makes them especially suitable in the media. One can say that they are 'media annoyance'. They are almost born as an icon - as an Instant Icon."

The overall exhibit not only visually intrigues guests with the creative installations, but also encourages them to touch, feel, and interact with each of the iconic chairs. Check out just a few of the installations below.

Coffee With Seoul

Let's face it, many of us live our lives around our daily caffeine fix and our team is no exception (just ask any one of us before our first cup of coffee!). Whether it's a cold brew, cappuccino or iced soy latte, we're always on the hunt for our next cup of joe. In many cases, we find ourselves gravitating to brew-masters who have not only perfected their craft, but have infused that careful eye for detail in creating the perfectly designed environment. This seems to hold more true during our travels to new cities and destinations as we plan our itineraries around specialty cafes in our search for the best caffeinated and designed spot (yep, our customized Google map itineraries can vouch for that).

Recently, we took a trip to one of our favorite destinations, Seoul, Korea and it was apparent that coffee culture runs supreme. Every block was dotted with coffee shops--from mainstream brands to boutique independent retailers.

Here's just a few of our favorite spots we visited who mastered the perfect blend of quality coffee and cool design.
