Let the Celebrations Continue

As we approach the last weekend of June, we're excited to share photos from a recent shoot we designed to celebrate Pride Month. Featuring real-life couple, Mel and Kalani, the concept was inspired by the masculine details and classic elements of a tuxedo.

This editorial was the result of a collaboration featuring artistic images captured by Cheyne Gallarde of Firebird Photography, a statement cake by Joshua Courtney from A Baked Romance, and the hospitality of Irwin Mencias and his team who provided the venue at the Cupola Theater inside the Honolulu Design Center.

For this shoot, Joshua created a bold three-tiered black and white cake.

Hand-crafted rosettes anchored the base and unexpected black fondant provided a sharp contrast to the delicate sugar-flower adorning the top of this masterpiece.

Cheyne perfectly captured the moody environment through his lens as Mel and Kalani cut into their cake. Having been together for 10 years and raising three children together, we were honored to capture their commitment to one another and their family in this editorial.

To complement Joshua's sweet work of art, we also curated chocolate and vanilla-flavored miniature cupcakes in our Trophy Vases, which were the perfect vessels to create a delicious dessert presentation (and devoured by the team at the end of the shoot!!).

With it's black and white color story, we were also thrilled to incorporate our newest product collections — a limited edition set of Black Louis Ghost Chairs, the Globe Lighting Collectionand Tuxedo Backdrop— the perfect decor elements to evoke an intimate and unexpected atmosphere for these two gents.

We had a blast designing this concept and are excited to feature our newest wares (launching on our website shortly!).

And while Pride Month will soon officially come to a close, we look forward to celebrating love 365 days a year.

Cheers!

The Art of Flight

We love bringing out-of-the-box concepts to life, so we were thrilled to design a flight-inspired event for our client's 30th birthday. With the celebrant's passion for travel and flight as the inspiration, we crafted a personalized celebration layered with custom elements.

To evoke the feeling of being in flight, we designed, fabricated and installed realistic, billowy clouds suspended over the guest tables (which truly made them feel as though they were dining on cloud nine!). Each cloud was meticulously handcrafted and hung from the venue's voluminous ceiling. With the event taking place at dusk, we illuminated the clouds in a soft magenta hue to represent the vivid colors of a sunset.

With its art-infused atmosphere and open space, the Cupola Theater was the perfect venue for our client's milestone event to take off (guests definitely didn't want to miss this flight!).

To infuse a fun an unexpected element, we also created a custom tablescape consisting of 205 paper planes in a variety of warm and vibrant tones inspired by a Hawaiian sunset. The hand-folded paper planes were positioned in an ombre pattern and mounted in various heights to create visual interest and movement. Finally, our Louis Ghost Chairs were the perfect complement to create a light and airy dining experience.

Aside from the main dining cabin, we also created a separate "pre-flight" lounge area for guests to mingle and enjoy bites and beverages, prior to boarding. To set the tone, we conceptualized a departure-screen that displayed the evening's signature cocktail and bar menu (no beverage limits here!).

Mahalo to all the folks that helped with this event, including the team at Stage Restaurant and the Cupola for providing such awesome food + service.
