Running in the dark isn't usually how most spend their Saturday evenings but last weekend was a bit different. Held at Kewalo Basin on September 20th, Nite Run is a 5k fun run that raises funds and awareness for JDRF Hawai‘i – a foundation that works to improve the lives of children, adults and families living with Type 1 diabetes.
We were thrilled to participate in a cool event for such an awesome cause by creating a custom backdrop for their stage. As a main focal point for the post-run activities, we designed a 16' long backdrop cladded with posters of the run. To add visual interest, we laid out 252 posters in a bold chevron design to mimic the patterns of the Ward Village logo. With festivities starting at dusk, we also layered cut-out letters of Nite Run, which were back-lit to illuminate the backdrop.
With headlamps on and excitement in the air, awards and prizes were also given to participants who came prepared to have fun! Including costume contests and dance contests (...looking good, folks!)
