Time flies and we can't believe it's already February!
Last month, we celebrated our one-year anniversary and we marked this milestone by designing a special editorial shoot. While most folks like to celebrate with presents and parties (and maybe a bit of bubbly), we decided a larger-than-life chandelier would be the perfect way to help commemorate this occasion in a fun and creative way.
The concept for the shoot was simple--create an installation to highlight the product that started it all for us, the Louis Ghost Chair.
We went through various iterations of the design, and finally chose to highlight the chairs in the form of a chandelier. This 4-tier chandelier was constructed with 24 of our Louis Ghost Chairs, totaling 14 feet in overall height and suspended 22 feet in the air. It also required a custom-built rigging system and two scissor lifts (...and some serious muscle).
Shot in a Honolulu warehouse, the monochromatic palette of the space provided a bright, yet raw and textural backdrop—as we felt contrast was important to allow the chandelier to stand out in an unexpected environment.
We also incorporated other elements to further enhance the set, including a faux-fur throw to add more texture, a metallic grey platform that we built to define the space, and a model wearing a couture lace gown created by one of our favorite designers, Ari South.
This was a fun and inspiring project for us but it took a massive amount of effort and required a creative crew of professionals to pull this off. So a huge round of snaps to the fine folks who partnered with us on this project:
- Eric Rhodes // MUSE Agenci - Photography
- Jeannette Rhodes // MUSE Agenci - Hair + Makeup
- Kelina Wolfe // Model
- Geremy Campos // Stylist
- Andrew Tran // Cinematography
We’re grateful to have met some incredible individuals and clients this past year and thrilled for the opportunity to work with more talented folks in 2014! We truly feel blessed to be doing what we love and look forward to celebrating more anniversaries here on the islands.
(Oh, and we can’t wait to show you what we’re already planning for our 2nd birthday!).
